Panthers win Homecoming game over Chargers

The Nouvel Catholic Central Panthers won their Homecoming game 43-21 over Valley Lutheran on Friday, Oct. 5.

The Panthers scored two touchdowns for the early 14-0 lead in the first. the Chargers scored a touchdown with 2:17 left in the first to make it 14-7. Nouvel scored twice more in the second quarter for a 28-7 halftime lead.

Valley Lutheran scored one TD in the third, with a missed extra point, to make it 28-13. Nouvel came out and scored two TDs in the fourth for the 43-14 advantage. Valley Lutheran crossed the goal line with 1:25 left in the game for the 43-21 final.

Heritage takes down John Glenn, 34-6

The Heritage football team took down John Glenn 34-6 in its Oct. 5 game. The Hawks scored once in the opening quarter with Jordon Keahey rushing three yards for the score and the 7-0 lead. The Hawks found the end zone three times in the second. At 11:00 Keegan Robertson ran for 14 yards and Marcus Murphy carried in the ball with 2:04 left in the half. Jacob Nerio intercepted a John Glenn pass and returned it for a score to give the Hawks the 27-0 halftime lead.

Heritage opened the third with a scoring drive. Keegan Robertson threw to Jeremiah Jones for the 69 yard score. John Glenn had a late interception returned for a touchdown for the 34-6 final.

Heritage boys second, girls fifth at own invite

Heritage hosted its annual cross country invitational at Imerman Park on Saturday, Oct. 6. The Heritage boys’ team place second overall, with the girls’ squad placing fifth. Jacob McDowell placed sixth overall for Heritage in 17:02.42 and Brady Neumann seventh in 17:13.09.

For the girls’ team Emma Banning placed sixth in 21:09.31 and Chloe Fry placed 19th in 22:36.89.

In the Small Schools Division, the Nouvel boys’ team placed ninth and Valley Lutheran placed 10th. Devin Neuman placed 21st for the Chargers in 19:36.68. Chris Lemanek finished 34th for Nouvel in 21:54.79, with 76 finishers in the division.

The Valley Lutheran girls’ team placed sixth in the Small Schools Division, with Allison Sowatsky placing third in 21:03.07.
